Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt tribute to her former stepson, Brandon Blackstock, a week after he passed away from melanoma at the age of 48.
McEntire, 70, mourned the loss of her stepson on Instagram, sharing throwback photos of the two together while reflecting on his life and legacy.
The first slide shows a photo of the two together, smiling, with McEntire’s arm around Blackstock’s shoulder. She wrote, “Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God. His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence.”
The next few slides show the pair fishing, dressed up for a party, and enjoying farm-life — all with big smiles plastered across their faces.
“There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”
Family, friends, and fans left messages for McEntire to share their love and condolences.
Wynonna Judd wrote, “Love you, friend. ♥️.”

“Sending love to you and the family. ♥️,” wrote Kristin Chenoweth.
One fan left a touching comment, “Praying for all his family, especially those sweet kids. May he rest with Jesus.”
McEntire had first commented on her stepson’s death underneath an emotional tribute by Shelby Blackstock, Brandon’s brother and her biological son whom she shares with ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock.
McEntire wrote, “Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much. 💔💔🙏💔♥️♥️♥️🙏💔.”
Brandon, who was married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, passed away after a 3.5-year battle with melanoma. Just prior to his death, the American Idol winner had postponed the August dates of her Las Vegas residency in order to spend time with her family.
The couple share daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9. Brandon also has two children, son Seth and daughter Savannah, with his ex Melissa Ashworth.
