Pulsar Audio has released Vocal Studio, a powerful all-in-one plugin designed to streamline vocal production. The software is currently available at an introductory price of €89.
Pulsar Vocal Studio combines a complete vocal chain into a single, intuitive, and conveniently hands-on interface. Having a preamp, compression, EQ, effects, and more in a single instance helps deliver professional-level results without the usual plugin stacking and routing headaches.
At the core of Vocal Studio is a flexible preamp section with three saturation flavors: Tube, Germanium, and Solid State. These provide a wide tonal range, from smooth vintage warmth to aggressive grit and clean modern punch.
I loved how you can dial in the desired amount of saturation with a Drive knob, and thanks to the built-in Constant Gain Monitoring, the output stays consistent as you experiment with tone shaping. Saturation plugins can typically fool our ears with the old “louder is better” trick, but the auto-gain feature implemented here prevents this from happening.
The Dynamics section offers one-knob controls for de-essing, gating, and compression. While the controls are minimal, they’re surprisingly versatile thanks to careful calibration.
Vocal Studio offers three compression voicings—Natural, Modern, and Gritty—modeled after classic British consoles and digital designs. The gating and de-essing are straightforward and effective, although you can’t fine-tune the de-esser if you want to use it on something other than vocals.
The EQ section offers two modes: a streamlined “preset curve” approach with an Amount control, and a more surgical parametric mode. You also get the Focus EQ, a dynamic high-frequency enhancer that adds presence and air to vocals without introducing harshness.

I loved how easily I could sculpt vocals with this. It’s super effective at shaping the vocal without the complexity of a dedicated dynamic EQ.
What really sets Vocal Studio apart, though, are the 11 built-in special effects. These include stereo widening, octave layering, breathy whispers, choruses, phasers, and expansive spatializers.
The FX are designed specifically for vocals. You get a variety of creative tools that can be used subtly or to completely transform your vocal recordings. There’s a lot of potential for adding interest to vocal tracks by using automation. For example, you can apply different special FX settings for verses and choruses to create contrast and interest.
Delay and reverb are also included, with ducking and syncing features that work well in practice. The plugin handles latency efficiently, and there are several oversampling modes that help balance CPU usage with sound quality.
For me, Vocal Studio excels as a fast and inspiring vocal processor. The presets are well-tuned and instantly usable, and you can adapt them to almost any vocal with a bit of tweaking.
Vocal Studio runs on Windows 7+ and macOS 10.11+, in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats. It’s available now for an intro price of €89 (until September 17, 2025), rising to €199 afterward.
