For those not caught up on matters of Doo Doo Garbagery, here’s the short version: DDG and his brother, DuB, were both in attendance at Dream Con. While there, an individual referred to DDG, whose moniker is actually an acronym for his real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., as “Doo Doo Garbage.” Notably, this isn’t the first instance of someone teasing DDG with this trollingly delivered nickname.
The Dream Con moment, as seen in widely shared footage, resulted in an apparent physical altercation. A TikTok user claiming to be the “Doo Doo Garbage” sayer in question has since floated the possibility of legal action.
“My brother was in fear for his life,” DDG said on X Spaces amid social media commentary on the incident. “The dude was following us around the whole entire Dream Con trying to embarrass us and bully us. I told my brother to check him in terms of, like, check and see if he’s okay, check and see if he needs help. Because y’all know I’m a helpful person. Check and see if this man needs help, check and see if he’s alright because he kept following us. We thought he was, like, a little slow or whatever.”
DDG also said the moment was a “skit, obviously” and argued that it’s neither his nor his brother’s fault. Deeper into the X Spaces session, he said that being referred to by the “Doo Doo Garbage” nickname “does not actually bother” him. Instead, it’s all in how the nickname is used.
“You think I give a fuck about a n***a calling me Doo Doo Garbage? Absolutely not,” he said. “I don’t care. It does not matter to me. It’s just how you say it.”
DDG later addressed the possibility of legal action from the aforementioned TikTok user, who has disputed the Blame the Chat artist’s claim that he was following him and his brother around during the event.
