Plugin Boutique is offering 50% off KORG Collection 6, dropping the software instrument bundle from $399 to $199 until July 21st.
KORG Collection 6 is a huge bundle of official KORG software instruments and effects. It covers A LOT of stuff, including analog classics, digital workstations, physical modeling, pianos, organs, grooveboxes, and effects.
If you want a quick reference point, this is basically a big KORG software museum.
It includes the MS-20, Polysix, Mono/Poly, miniKORG 700S, ARP ODYSSEY, ARP 2600, M1, WAVESTATION, TRITON, TRITON Extreme, microKORG, ELECTRIBE-R, KAOSS PAD, Prophecy, VOX Super Continental, EP-1, MDE-X, Filter Ark, and the three Collection 6 additions.
Those three new additions are TRINITY, PS-3300, and SGX-2.
TRINITY is KORG’s 1995 workstation that most remember for its silver hardware design, TouchView touchscreen interface, and large PCM sound set. For anyone chasing late 90s and early 2000s R&B, pop, soundtrack, and hip-hop textures, this is probably one of the more interesting additions.
PS-3300 goes much further back. The original was a rare fully polyphonic analog synth produced from 1977 to 1981, with fewer than 50 units reportedly made. KORG says the software version models a sound engine equivalent to 144 MS-20s, while adding modern functionality.
SGX-2 brings in KORG’s premium piano engine from KRONOS and NAUTILUS, with full-stereo loopless samples for every key. That rounds out the bundle nicely if you want more than synths and workstation sounds.
But if you like oldschool stuff as much as I do, the older instruments are still the main attraction here. M1 and TRITON are obvious highlights if you like classic house, pop, hip-hop, R&B, and early 2000s workstation sounds, while MS-20, Mono/Poly, and Polysix cover the analog side.
KORG also includes many of the original expansion cards and boards for its digital instruments. The M1 includes 34 original expansion cards, WAVESTATION includes seven expansion cards, TRITON includes eight expansion boards, and TRINITY includes four expansion libraries plus sounds from the TR-Rack.
One useful note from BoBo in the BPB community is that Plugin Boutique also lists cross-grade deals. At the time of writing, the crossgrade from one KORG product is $149, while the crossgrade from two KORG products is $99, so check those pages before buying the standard sale version if you already own KORG software.
We previously covered a KORG M1 Music Workstation discount, and that article is still a good reminder of how iconic some of these sounds are. The M1 alone is a nostalgia machine, but the full Collection 6 is obviously much broader.
KORG Collection 6 runs as standalone software and in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats on macOS 11 Big Sur or higher, with native Apple Silicon support. Windows users need Windows 10 64-bit or higher, with VST, VST3, and AAX support. An internet connection is required.
