Kanye West, Travis Scott & Pusha T’s Disrespect On New Clipse Song

Clipse Reunite on “So Be It” with Chilling Visuals and a Fiery Diss—But Who’s the Target?

Clipse just dropped their new song “So Be It” and it’s a problem! The track is the latest release from their upcoming album Let the Lord Sort Them Out, set to drop June 11. This summer is already heating up! Fans of the group, including me, are hyped. Clipse is easily one of the greatest duos in Hip-Hop history, but we haven’t had a proper group project in nearly two decades. Yeah—20 years!

Now it’s looking like these two might be the comeback kings we didn’t know we needed. Shout out to Malice, who stepped away from the group and the music industry for years to follow a more spiritual path. But now, he and Pusha T are back like they never left. “So Be It” comes with a slick black-and-white visual that’s equal parts ominous and stylish. I’m almost sure Pharrell laced the beat—it’s giving vintage Clipse energy with a darker, more evolved edge. These guys might be vets, but they sound as sharp as ever.

    BUT…there is always a “but.”

In the final bars of the song, Push spits:

“You cried in front of me
You died in front of me
Calabasas took your b**** and your pride in front of me
Heard Utopia had moved right up the street
And her lip gloss was poppin’, she ain’t need you to eat
The net gon’ call it the way that they see it
But I got the video, I can share and A.E. it
They wouldn’t believe it but I can’t unsee it
    Lucky I ain’t TMZ it
So be it, so be it”

While many initially believed that final verse of the song took direct aim at Kanye West, a GQ interview with Pusha T suggests otherwise. The real target might be Travis Scott and that is the consensus online. It’s those references to Utopia—Travis Scott’s latest album—and seemingly remarks about Kylie Jenner that take it over the top. By the way, our social media guy missed it too.

    So what’s the story?

According to Pusha, the tension stems from an odd studio encounter in Paris last year. Travis popped into Pharrell’s studio, where Clipse were recording. He played them an early version of Utopia, including a track called “Meltdown.” However, Push says Scott conveniently left out the now-infamous verse from Drake that took jabs at Pharrell and his legacy.

“The true context of that is we were in Paris, literally working, and he was calling to play P his new album,” Pusha explained. “He interrupted a session… He’s like, ‘Oh, man, everybody’s here,’ he’s smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his f#cking monkey dance… And then a week later you hear ‘Meltdown,’ which he didn’t play.”

That omission seemed overt to King Push. And, he allowed the Pharrell diss. That’s Pusha homie for life. Pusha went on to say that Travis’ behavior didn’t line up with the supposed neutrality Scott projects.

“I personally have been removed from that crew and those people for a minute,” Push continued. “So, that’s where my issue comes in—like, dawg, don’t even come over here with that… he’s a w####. He’s a w####.” OUCH.

Push has already handled Drake. Does anybody think that Travis wants that smoke?

Pusha T and Malice aren’t just back, they’re coming for heads. Let God sort em out.
