Bloom Drum Machine Lite is a stripped-down version of Excite Audio’s flagship drum instrument, designed to bring a combo of vintage drum sounds and modern grooves to your productions.
The Lite edition usually retails for around $35, but you can get it for free right now by filling out a brief 3-4 minute survey on Plugin Boutique.
The survey focuses mainly on your video content preferences. Once you fill out the survey, you’ll receive a code to redeem Bloom Drum Machine Lite for free and add it to your Plugin Boutique account.
Despite being a “Lite” version, Bloom Drum Machine Lite is packed with features and drum sounds that make it a solid addition to your beatmaking toolkit.
It includes 56 drum machine samples, 14 playable sample keys, and 75 presets. All sounds are royalty-free, ranging from classic analog drum tones to more experimental textures and loops.
One thing I really like about Bloom Drum Machine Lite is how quick it is to get going with drum programming. You get instant access to production-ready drums and a solid selection of FX for adding a bit of texture on top.
The plugin’s macro controls—Drive, Mod Delay, Static, and Lo-Fi—offer quick sound shaping, and the built-in effects include bitcrushing, reverb, and dynamics processing pulled from Excite Audio’s Lifeline series.
Compared to the full version, you’re missing the built-in sequencer and some advanced modulation features. But the Lite version still gives you access to a palette of characterful drum sounds sampled from vintage analog gear, early digital drum units, and modern synths.
If you’re relatively new to music production and don’t already own hundreds of vintage drum machine packs, it’s a solid place to start.
It’s also fun to play with the black keys on your MIDI controller. These modify playback with effects like reverse, octave shift, and time stretching, which helps keep patterns from sounding static or repetitive.
And if you like the Lite version but feel like it’s too limited, you also get the option to upgrade to the full version of Bloom Drum Machine.
Bloom Drum Machine Lite is compatible with macOS (10.15 and later) and Windows 7 or higher. It runs in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats. You’ll need an internet connection to authorize the software.
