Drake, Quavo and Nelly are just a few names who appear in a new Starz docuseries, Magic City: An American Fantasy — watch the trailer above.
According to Billboard, Drizzy, through DreamCrew Entertainment, and Jermaine Dupri serve as executive producers on the five-part series, which explores the rise of the iconic Atlanta strip club, and its impact on hip-hop in the city and beyond.
“It’s one of the wonders of the world,” the Drake says in the trailer. “Magic City became this place for people to flourish, Black music to flourish.”
The doc also features appearances by Magic City founder Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney, 2 Chainz, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Quavo, Shaquille O’Neal, T.I. and more.
The lore of Magic City includes Shaq revealing he signed his $120 million Los Angeles Lakers contract in the club, Quavo asserting there “wouldn’t be a Migos without Magic City,” and Big Boi coming to the realization that he and Andre 3000 had a hit with “B.O.B” after receiving the Magic City seal of approval.
“Magic City: An American Fantasy is a riveting behind-the-curtain look at one of the most unique places in Black culture,” Kathryn Busby, Starz president of original programming, said in a statement.
“The docuseries’ unprecedented insider access and history unveiled from those who built its empire is a perfect complement to STARZ’s slate of adult, culture-driving shows.”
