What will Doja Cat‘s fifth album, Vie, sound like? The more apt question after Monday night’s (May 5) 2025 Met Gala might be: what will Vie look like? Doja hit the blue carpet at the high fashion superbowl in a Marc Jacobs pinstripe bodysuit with a velvet ocelot-print bustier design and dramatic shoulder pads on the wool jacket top, black tights and black leather Kiki boots, an outfit she told Vogue was a kind of visual analog to the sound of her LP.
“I just wanted to feel like a little gangsta, I just wanted to feel like the madam. And I feel like [Marc Jacobs] brought that, like the strong shape to the shoulder. All of the exaggerated shapes I feel like he’s the master of,” she told Vogue livestream co-hosts Teyana Taylor and Ego Nwodim. “I feel like I’ve just been inspired mostly by the ’80s a lot lately, so this was kind of what I wanted to incorporate.”
When designer Jacobs mentioned Vie while talking about how she dressed Doja for the event — noting that her outré look was inspired by mood boards the singer/rapper had created for the album — Nwodim just had to get more details on the LP. While Doja didn’t reveal too much, the 29-year-old star noted that she’s already teased four songs so far, adding, “With the campaign that we’re doing together, we put one of the singles behind the visual for it. And it’s called ‘Jealous Type.’ So if you watch that, it’s in there.”
The video for “Jealous Type” she was referring to that dropped on Monday featured Doja modeling a series of Jacobs looks and accessories as she racks up a cassette tape of the super 80s pop jam while enjoying a high-fashion staycation. Also on Monday, Doja briefly released the Scarlet leftover song “Crack,” which she’d previewed in 2022 on Instagram Live and shared for just 24 hours, cautioning that it won’t be included on her upcoming album.
In April, Doja previewed a 16-song tracklist for Vie, including songs titled “Break My Heart,” “Take Me Dancing,” “Anything,” “Aint News,” “Slow Burn,” “Wood Holly,” “Did I Lie” and “Appreciation.” At press time no release date for Vie has been announced.
