You could hear the music from down the block and see the line wrapped around the corner — a rare sight in Brooklyn, where everything’s a vibe and waiting in line just does not happen.
On June 5, after weeks of unpredictable weather, New York City finally enjoyed proper June temperatures, only fueling the excitement for Alison Wonderland’s set at 99 Scott in Williamsburg.
Fans of the EDM DJ flooded the nearly 12,000-square-foot neon-hued warehouse space with high energy and even higher expectations, all of which the Australian producer exceeded as she spun her set drenched in blacklight.
Before Alison took the stage, DJ Mandy, a rising talent known for her high-energy sets and 800K+ TikTok followers, got the crowd hyped. Her performance was packed with electricity and personality, sending fists (and phones) into the air as she set the tone for the night.
What brought these DJs together? Well, Sour Patch Kids Glow Ups — the brand’s new strawberry-watermelon flavored candy featuring edible confetti that glows under blacklight thanks to a flavorless turmeric extract.
Sour Patch Kids could’ve simply just stocked the new flavor on shelves nationwide, but instead, they threw an epic blacklight party in Brooklyn, giving fans a chance to experience the new candy innovation in a fully immersive, blacklight setting.

Partnering with Complex, the brand hosted the Sour Patch Kids Glow Ups Blacklight Party, where fans of dance, EDM, and electropop got to experience the night up close — or via livestream on Complex’s YouTube channel for those tuning in from afar.
Throughout the space, guests could uncover interactive moments like temporary glow-under-blacklight tattoos, customizing accessories with Hair Gems by Hally Hair, and solving a riddle only visible under blacklight for a chance to win passes to New York’s biggest summer music festival.
When Alison Wonderland hit the stage, she opened her set with a menacing, melodic voice that was oddly familiar.
For 45 minutes, Alison spun a few of her fan-favorite hits like “Happy Place,” “Thirst,” and “Bad Things,” along with “Leadpoison” by Acyan, “Bootleg” by Guess, and “Jungle” by Fred Again. Each drop hit harder than the last, a nonstop pulse of bass, strobes, and blacklight glow that felt as though the crowd was moving as one.
DJ Mandy and Alison Wonderland performed two separate electrifying sets, leaving the crowd pumped, and while it was sour (sorry!) for anyone who couldn’t be there, it was pretty sweet for everyone who was.
It wouldn’t be a Sour Patch Kids event without a little fun and mischief and this one delivered both — under blacklight.
