Cardi B has some timely words of encouragement for anyone currently going through a breakup, divorce-level or otherwise.
In a recent Instagram Live video, as seen below, Cardi first discussed the staggered release strategy she’s set to use for physical editions of her just-announced new album, out this September. This ultimately led into her thanking fans for their support of new single “Outside,” which inevitably gave way to some reflections on the importance of, to quote the song itself, “going out” after having been “cuffed up too long.”
What did Cardi B say about divorce?
“If you’re going through a breakup, if you’re going through some shit with your baby’s father or some shit, if you’ve just got a divorce, if you’re heartbroken—go outside with your fucking friends,” Cardi said during a recent IG Live.
As you’ll recall, Cardi was reported in August of last year to have filed for divorce from Offset. In the months since, much has been said about the split, with Cardi recently romantically linked to Stefon Diggs.
What else did Cardi B say about navigating a breakup?
“When I kept going outside, people was like, ‘Oh, she got three kids,’” Cardi said on IG Live. “Fck that. When you go outside with your friends, your friends are healing you. I really felt like my friends was healing me. There was times that I was at home by myself and I started feeling lonely and I started feeling anxiety.”
As Cardi explained, these types of outings are important, regardless of whether alcohol is a part of one’s life or not. Reflecting on her own period of feeling “really alone,” and how she managed to navigate it, Cardi reiterated the healing properties of a proper night out.
“It’s not that I was heartbroken,” she recalled. “I just felt really alone. I just felt really, really alone, getting in the groove of dating and stuff like that and trying to figure things out. I’m telling you, going outside with my friends really healed me. You can even watch baddies with your friends. But it healed me.”
When did Cardi B and Offset split up?
At the top of last August, news of a divorce broke. Within hours, Cardi confirmed that she was pregnant with her third child. At the time, she and Offset, whom she married in 2017, already shared two children together.
