Cardi B celebrated her chart-topping single “Outside” while revealing her upcoming album will take a completely different direction.
Cardi B hit No. 1 on Apple Music with her latest single, “Outside,” just as international tensions with Iran dominated headlines, but the Bronx rapper kept her focus on the music.
“We’re number one on Apple Music! We’re number one on Apple Music. I don’t know what’s going to happen to this country tomorrow, but I know we went number one today,” Cardi B said in a video posted to social media. “I am so thankful. I am so grateful. I’ve been number one on Apple Music in a minute. I am so thankful.”

The track debuted as the top new entry on the U.S. iTunes chart, marking a win for Cardi as she builds momentum for her long-awaited sophomore album.
Despite the success, Cardi B admitted she initially pushed back against her label’s decision to lead with “Outside.” She apologized to Atlantic Records for acting like a “brat.”
“I’m gonna publicly apologize to Atlantic because I was being very bratty, very mean, very nasty, because I really didn’t want to drop this song. But they was like no b####…We compromised, dropped it and it’s going amazing,” she said.

While the single’s reception has been strong, Cardi B warned that the rest of the album won’t sound like “Outside” or her 2023 track “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion.
“I’m happy that you guys love ‘Outside,’ but I just cannot wait for you guys to listen to my album. I know you guys think that my songs are gonna be sounding like that, and it’s not. I also heard somebody say that my songs are gonna be like ‘Bongos.’ I’m coming very different. It’s a completely different vibe, but a good vibe.”
The upcoming project will be her first full-length release since 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, which won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. Cardi has hinted the new album will include at least 20 tracks and feature both familiar collaborators and unexpected guests.
