Baton is a free iOS app designed to help producers organize unreleased music, collaborate remotely, and explore new opportunities around their existing projects. For a limited time, BPB readers can claim one month of Baton Pro for FREE.
Before we dig a bit deeper into the app itself, here’s more info about the special offer for BPB readers.
Get one month of Baton Pro for FREE
The base version of Baton is completely free to use, but BPB readers can unlock one month of Baton Pro for free. Normally, Baton Pro costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year, so this is an easy way to try the full feature set.
To claim the free month, you’ll need to download the free Baton iOS app first, create an account, and get the app up and running. Once that’s done, simply use the one-month free upgrade link (available below this article) to activate Baton Pro on your account.
Organize your unfinished projects with Baton
Baton positions itself as a home for unreleased music rather than another streaming platform. The basic idea is simple: instead of leaving unfinished tracks scattered across hard drives, Baton gives you a single place to upload, organize, and revisit works in progress.
When you’re ready, Baton connects you with new collaborators and placement opportunities, and lets you sell your music.
Your library syncs across devices, files can be downloaded for offline listening, and you can choose whether projects stay private or are published to your profile.
I don’t know about you, but I have dozens upon dozens of unfinished projects on old hard drives (some of them for different DAWs like MuLab, Studio One, Ableton Live, etc.). At least once a year, I go through these old drives to find inspiration for new tracks, but having everything in one place is so much more convenient.
Collaborate with other music producers
Collaboration is another big part of the app’s workflow. Baton lets you create private, invite-only, or public collaborative spaces, with conversation threads that update as projects evolve.
You can tag collaborators to instantly share material and manage credits, message other creators when you find music you like, and see who listens to or downloads your tracks, even when they’re shared outside the platform.
There’s also a way to discover tracks from other artists. You can browse unreleased music from creators around the world, send your tracks to placement and sync opportunities, or share your own opportunities to find new collaborators.
Baton has also recently developed AI-assisted tools to help match samples from other creators with your music, which can be useful when looking for like-minded artists.
On the editing side, Baton includes lightweight audio tools designed for mobile use. You can loop, repitch, and reverse audio, apply EQ and basic effects like gain, distortion, delay, and reverb, and refine ideas on the go.
It’s not meant to replace a DAW, but it works well as a mobile sketchpad and review environment.
Baton Free vs. Pro
The free version of Baton allows you to upload and share up to 25 tracks, message other creators, explore opportunities, and manage collaborations. Baton Pro removes upload limits and unlocks the audio editing features mentioned above, along with earlier access to new opportunities.
Baton is available as a free download for iOS, with account-based syncing between mobile and desktop. The BPB-exclusive one-month Baton Pro upgrade is available for a limited time via the link in this article.
