Developer Nathaniel Wing’s N-Stereo for macOS, Windows, and Linux is now available for free for a limited time. Stereo enhancers and effects plugins have been relatively popular in 2026, with multiple freebies coming just in the last few months. In July, we had a couple of stereo-widening freebies with Spread by Angelic Vibes and Buchart Audio’s The Double Wide. More recently, in the last week, we covered Psypan 2 Free Edition, a stereo multi-effect plugin from Auburn Sounds. Now, we can add Nathaniel Wing’s N-Stereo to the mix. N-Stereo has a retail price of $29, but as part of a broader…

Line 6 has launched Helix Stadium Native Intro, a free amp and effects plugin for macOS and Windows. Helix Stadium Native launched on August 4th, 2026, and the Intro license is a permanent free version of the new Helix Stadium Native plugin with fewer models. I also think it is worth clarifying what this does not replace. Helix Stadium Native is the plugin version of the newer Helix Stadium hardware platform, while the original Helix Native remains a separate product for the older Helix/HX ecosystem. So, Helix Stadium Native Intro is more like Line 6’s new free entry point into…

noshigeSound is offering noshige76, a new FET-style compressor plugin for macOS and Windows, as a free download until August 19th, 2026. The plugin launched on August 5th, and the free offer runs through the end of August 19th UTC. During that window, anyone with a free noshigeSound account can claim a perpetual noshige76 license for $0. The good news is that a card is not required, and the license never expires. After August 19th, noshige76 returns to its $29 launch price. The regular perpetual price listed on the product page is $158, so this is the one to grab while…

Choosing a DAW is a weirdly personal thing. Most of us end up with one of the familiar names, learn its shortcuts, build our templates, complain about it often, and then keep using it for years. That is part of the challenge for SoundBridge. It has been around for a long time (originally as Lumit), and it has some very innovative features, especially when it comes to collaboration, but it still does not come up in the DAW conversation as often as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Reaper, Bitwig, or FL Studio. After spending time with SoundBridge and…

A rolling bassline is the easiest thing in dance music to make, and one of the hardest to make good. Most producers reach level one and stop. This breakdown climbs four levels, from the filtered saw everyone builds to a bassline that is unmistakably yours: the classic roll, the gallop, custom layers, and the movement. The lesson underneath it all: sound design gets you character, but only the MIDI gets you groove, and you need both. Level 1: The Classic Rolling Saw The sound you already know, and you should be able to build it in a minute. The “roll”…

Arturia has released Pigments Play, a free software synthesizer powered by its flagship Pigments instrument. Pigments Play is not the full version of Pigments, but it gives you a free and approachable way to use some of its sound engine and preset content. It feels like Arturia’s Pigments equivalent of Analog Lab Play, which we covered when it launched back in 2023. The free instrument includes 100 curated presets created by expert sound designers from Pigments. The included sounds cover modern pop, R&B, garage, house, drum and bass, trap, ambient, and other production styles. The main idea here is fast…

Steinberg has re-released five of its classic VST plugins in the free Steinberg Classic Collection, available now at Plugin Boutique. The bundle includes Neon, CS-40, Karlette, VB-1, and LM7. These are some of the plugins that helped define the early days of computer-based music production, going back to the time after Steinberg introduced VST in 1996. We covered some of these plugins on BPB a long time ago, including VB-1 and Neon and Karlette, when Steinberg made older VST Classics releases available as freeware. This new collection brings several of those early instruments and effects together as modern VST3 plugins.…

Analog Obsession has released THEDI, a free coloration plugin inspired by a famous colored DI box. The developer describes THEDI as a “colored DI box in the box” that tightens the low end, enhances the mids, and adds sparkle to the high end. Analog Obsession doesn’t name the exact hardware unit, but my guess is something in the A-Designs REDDI lane. REDDI is one of the best-known colored tube DI boxes for bass, synths, and line-level sources. Still, don’t take my word for it, especially since the Patreon post doesn’t refer to any specific unit. Either way, THEDI is a…

Jesus Oyola has released The Bass Particle, a free bass saturation and sub-resonator plugin for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is a cool little plugin for saturating and thickening bass frequencies. To some extent, it reminds me of our own free BPB Bassaturator plugin, although the control setup is very different. The Bass Particle is built around a resonant low-end boost, with controls for Amplitude and Frequency. Amplitude controls how aggressive the resonance gets, going from transparent at lower settings to up to 14 dB of added sub-bass when pushed harder. The Frequency knob sweeps the resonant area, while the…

Mastering The Mix has released MIXVAULT, a new immersive EQ plugin for macOS and Windows. The launch follows several recent Mastering The Mix releases we covered on BPB, including REFERENCE 3 and STEREOVAULT. MIXVAULT also connects naturally to the developer’s earlier EQ tools, especially MIXROOM and BASSROOM. The idea behind MIXVAULT is to make EQ moves feel less like editing a curve and more like shaping the sound in front of you. Instead of dragging a traditional EQ node up or down, you pull a frequency closer to bring it forward or push it away to pull it back. The…
