Pure Amber is a spectral-shaping and resonance-control plugin for Windows made by Plea Tech, usually priced at $9.99, but is now available for free for a limited time. You can now download it for free using the promo code “VI-CONTROL” for a limited time. I’m not sure how long the promo code will remain active, so grab it while you can. Pure Amber is Plea Tech’s answer to resonance…

BandMatrix by Kojima Audio is a multi-band dynamics plugin available for free on both macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. The plugin has 6 bands that apply compression and expansion, like your run-of-the-mill multi-band compressor, but that’s not all. I’ve never heard about this developer before, but their concept delivers right out of the gate. What’s special about BandMatrix is its ability to drive each band from separate sources. It could be the internal signal itself, external inputs via the sidechain, or making any band drive any other band, which opens up a vast amount of creative…

Ultramaster KR-106 is a free, open-source virtual analog synthesizer inspired by the Roland Juno polysynths. It was shared in our BPB community, and the backstory alone makes it worth a look. The project started in the year 2000 in a Brooklyn loft, when two developers set out to build professional audio software for Linux. Life took them in different directions (one founded Kayrock Screenprinting, the other ended up at Google), but they eventually returned to the code. Twenty-five years later, KR-106 is here as a free GPL release. I’m not sure if this was publicly available before, but the latest…

Last week, we covered the free FedDSP Morso distortion plugin. This was the first installment of a series of FedDSP plugins that the developer will be releasing for free on a weekly basis. They are keeping their word with this week’s new offering – Snapper. Snapper is a compression-and-saturation tool inspired by an OTA (operational transconductance amplifier) circuit. This sort of compressor is known for a squashy character with a bit of noise and grit to boot. The plugin interface looks like a standard guitar pedal with three adjustable knobs: Squash, Snap, and Level. Squash: Controls the amount of compression…

HoRNet’s TrackUtility has been around for over a decade, with various updates since its release. The plugin that HoRNet calls the “Swiss army knife audio utility” used to retail for €9.90 but is now free. TrackUtility comes in AU, VST2, VST3, RTAS, and AAX formats for macOS (10.7 and later) and Windows. We’ve had a few freebies from HoRNet recently, with both 3XOver DJ-Style EQ and FilterSolo available earlier this year. The aforementioned plugins were only free for 48 hours, so TrackUtility is a particularly nice treat for anyone who missed out on the others. TrackUtility is a multifunctional utility…

From developer Overload Audio comes Echodude BBD-150, a free vintage delay plugin for macOS and Windows. Overload Audio is taking us back to the 1980s with a virtual recreation of classic bucket brigade delay units, particularly inspired by the Melos DE-1 and the Echoman EM-150. I’m not familiar with these hardware units, but I didn’t need to dig very deep to discover that they are one and the same. The Echoman EM-150 is essentially a rebadged Melos DE-1. These desktop analog BBD units gained some popularity in the 80s as a great way to get the classic dub-style echo. It…
