Pigments 7 is the latest (brand-new) version of Arturia’s flagship multi-engine synth, and there are a few ways to get a great deal right now. Pigments 7 is available for $99 (usually $199) from Arturia until January 5, 2026. It’s available for the same price at Plugin Boutique, along with a gift. Before I get deeper into the Plugin Boutique promotion, there’s even better news for existing Pigments owners; you can upgrade for free via your Arturia Software Center. I also want to highlight Arturia’s offer to Analog Lab Intro owners. Anyone who owns Analog Lab Intro (which was recently…
The Cinematic Metal Whooshes by Slava Pogorelsky is a sample pack that is free for a limited time via A Free Sound Effect. I’m a self-confessed hoarder of cinematic sounds, some of which have never seen the light of day. But I know I’ll need every single one of them one day, and it would be foolish to get rid of anything that I’ll need later. I know it’s true because everyone at my cinematic sound addiction support group agrees. Anyway, we’ve got another cinematic sample pack on offer here, and one that might pleasantly surprise some. Cinematic Metal Whooshes…
Kotos are massive, expensive instruments with very few players worldwide. It is not as common as the guitar, so it is not easy to find authentic recordings. I am very grateful to have a tool like Kontakt, which lets me capture sounds I would not otherwise have access to. I’d like to work with real koto players in the future, but even then, I’d probably still use Kontakt at least to create the demo track that I would show to the koto player as a reference. Pro tip from SHIMA: When using your phone’s voice memos for field recordings, always…
Wrapping it all up Dela Utca’s workflow shows how modern producers can merge performance and technology without losing soul. His use of Kontakt gives him the flexibility to start ideas on real instruments and then expand them into full productions that still feel authentic. Each choice, from the warmth of The Gentleman to the atmosphere of Ethereal Earth and the tight phrasing of Session Guitarist Strummed Acoustic, helps him capture emotion while maintaining clarity. “In The City” embodies that process. It feels alive because it was built from both worlds, combining the intimacy of acoustic performance with the precision of…
Audio Deluxe is currently offering MeldaProduction’s new MMicSim microphone simulator plugin for just $17.10 (normally $79) when you use the additional XMAS10 code at checkout. MMicSim is a 64-bit exclusive release for macOS (VST, VST3, AU, AAX) and Windows (VST, VST3, AAX). The introductory deal sets MMicSim’s price at $19, but after you add the plugin to your cart, apply the coupon “XMAS10” to bring it down to $17.10. I just tested the coupon, and it’s working. The $19 intro deal is available for a limited time, though Audio Deluxe did not specify when it expires. The Christmas coupon deal…
2B Played Music offers the QFX Mash, a one-knob sound degradation plugin for macOS and Windows, for free until December 26 by using the coupon code XMAS25 at checkout. If you’ve followed 2B Played Music releases for a while, you’ll know they regularly turn their QFX series plugins into limited-time freebies around Black Friday and the Christmas holidays. We’ve covered them numerous times on BPB, most recently the QFX Wax in October. That said, I don’t recall QFX Mash being free before, so this feels like a good opportunity to grab it if you like the developer’s minimalist approach to…
A mix can have great sounds and solid songwriting, but if nothing shifts as the track progresses, it quickly starts to feel flat. Automation changes that by letting you shape levels, effects and tone over time. Instead of a static session, you get a mix that evolves with the music. This is especially important in transitions. Builds, breakdowns, switches and drops all rely on tension and release. With just a few automation moves, you can turn a predictable moment into something exciting. Examples include: Volume swells that lead into a chorus Filter rises that increase energy before a drop Reverb…
Artists in DSP has released Euclyd, a multitap delay plugin for macOS and Windows that takes a unique approach to rhythmic echo effects. BPB readers get a 50% off discount with the coupon code EUCLYDBPB50. Instead of thinking in terms of simple repeats, Euclyd is built around Euclidean rhythm, turning delay taps into evenly distributed rhythmic events across a defined period. Sounds like fun, and it definitely is, especially if you have too many basic delay plugins and want to experiment with something different. Euclyd lets you divide time into up to 32 steps and then choose how many taps…
