Audio Spices is a new plugin company founded by producer Adi Rotem. The developer currently has ten plugins in development, and these first three tools will give you a taste of what’s to come.
Salt is a FET-style compressor inspired by the classic 1176 approach. It is designed for punch on drums, vocals, bass, and other sources that benefit from fast compression and a bit of attitude.
Chili is a tape-style saturator for adding warmth, drive, and thicker harmonics. You can use it gently for glue and low-end weight, or push it harder for more obvious saturation.
Basil is a stereo chorus and vibrato plugin. It can add subtle analog-style widening, but it also goes into more wobbly modulation territory when pushed. It should suit synths, guitars, vocals, and melodic or harmonic instruments in general.
All three plugins follow the same idea: single-purpose effects with simple interfaces. Salt handles compression, Chili handles saturation, and Basil handles chorus/vibrato, so the bundle covers a useful everyday trio for mixing and sound design.
Salt, Chili, and Basil are available for macOS 10.13 or later and Windows 10 or later. The macOS versions are Universal, with native Apple Silicon and Intel support, and the plugins are available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats on macOS, and VST3 and AAX formats on Windows.
