Vocal Month at Minimal Audio will deliver various offers throughout April, and the first is Elevated Vocals.
Elevated Vocals is a vocal sample pack that typically sells for $29, but you can download it for free until the end of April.
The pack contains over 280 vocal elements, including rhythmic chops, atmospheric sounds, and dry phrases.
My biggest issue with vocal packs is that they often include a lot of content that’s fairly unusable.
For example, the standard “oh yeah,” and similar phrases, don’t appeal to many people.
Sometimes, vocal packs even feature really oddly specific full-length verse/hook lines that make you think, “When would I ever use that?”
And, if I did, whatever way I manipulate it, I’ve got the same line as everyone else who bought the pack.
Anyway, the reason I began with the thing I don’t like about vocal packs is that Elevated Vocals avoids the cringe factor of those phrases.
There are a few phrases, but, for the most part, they are glitchy and modern enough that the rhythm they create is more valuable than the words.
So, that’s a good start, and the pack has lots of what I like most about vocal packs, which is cinematic and atmospheric textures.
There’s something I love about evolving soundscapes built on vocals. Even if they are processed in various ways, there’s always that human element that sounds beautiful.
What I like about the cinematic/atmospheric samples here is that they cover a wide range of styles, from dark and gritty to bright and ethereal.
There’s a lot of great material for media composition (sci-fi, gaming, tense drama, etc.), and most kinds of ambient or electronic music.
Sticking with the electronic music angle, the rhythmic loops are very good. It’s not just the glitchy character; many of them have very nice harmonic patterns.
The great thing about those sorts of loops/samples is that lots of producers can use them in different ways, so it’s not like sharing a distinct phrase.
Even if you aren’t looking for vocal samples, it’s well worth grabbing Elevated Vocals for the textures, and you can’t argue with free.
I hope Minimal Audio has some nice surprises up its sleeves for the rest of this promo month; stay tuned.
