Spectaverb is the second plugin by Plea Tech we’re looking at in one day, and it seems just as interesting as the first, Pure Amber.
Pure Amber is a spectral shaping and resonance suppressor plugin for Windows, and it’s free for a limited time, so don’t miss it.
Spectaverb is also a Windows exclusive, which rules me out, but I’m still excited to share this one because it seems like a small plugin that you could get a lot out of.
Spectaverb isn’t a typical reverb plugin; it’s a multi-FX plugin featuring three distinct parallel effect chains.
The three effect chains layer/blend space, texture, and vintage character.
To create a wide ambient space, one chain focuses on spectral shaping and stereo diffusion; this is the start of transforming a simple sound into an atmospheric soundscape.
Another chain adds movement and texture through noise, flanging, and flutter.
The last chain extends the movement and texture through saturation, LFO-driven color, and you can introduce chorus width or granular shimmer, if you want to go even further.
After the three parallel effect chains, the plugin feeds everything into a final reverb and limiter stage.
Despite a decent amount going on, Spectaverb has just a handful of adjustable controls that lend themselves well to real-time sound design. The plugin has a 3D tunnel display that makes it easier to shape and guide your sound on the fly.
There’s something really nice about turning an everyday sound into something bigger, more cinematic, ambient, or ethereal. Especially if you throw in evolving textures and multi-layered elements, and that’s what Spectaverb should offer.
Whether you’re looking to create a nice bed for a cinematic/ambient piece or something more experimental, Spectaverb seems well worth checking out for Windows users.
