Excite Audio has made Bloom Bass Groove Lite free for a limited time on Plugin Boutique as part of its holiday promotion (ends on January 11).

Bloom Bass Groove Lite is a streamlined version of Excite Audio’s Bloom Bass Groove instrument. It’s a virtual instrument built around recorded electric bass performances.
The included content covers a variety of soulful basslines, including slap, fingerstyle, picked, and muted articulations, along with rhythmic loops and one-shot phrases. Everything is tempo-synced and locked to the key, so it’s easy to make the bass grooves fit your project.
What really makes Bloom Bass Groove Lite worth checking out is the Phrase Player. Instead of programming basslines note by note, you trigger BPM-synced phrases across the keyboard. This is fun in practice and super handy if you need a bassline asap.
White keys play bass phrases and samples, while black keys modify playback behavior, pitch, speed, or trigger variations and modulation. The workflow works great for house, disco, pop, and funk-inspired tracks where you already have the base groove going and need to fit in a bass layer.
The Lite version includes 75 presets spread across seven categories, ranging from clean and melodic basses to more processed and rhythmic patches. You also get 56 bass samples across four sample banks, all recorded from real performances and processed through the instrument’s internal engine.
For a limited-time freebie, that’s a pretty generous amount of content.
Sound shaping is done through the four included macro controls (Tube, Digital, Sub-EQ, and Realism), which are tied to a custom effects chain under the hood. If you want to go deeper, the edit page lets you tweak sample start and end points, playback direction, speed, formant, choke groups, and more.
There’s also a randomize function that instantly remaps samples across the keyboard, which is great for coming up with new bassline ideas or variations of the pre-included grooves.
Compared to the full version, Bloom Bass Groove Lite has fewer presets and samples and doesn’t include advanced features like importing your own samples or deeper phrase manipulation. Still, as a free instrument, I think it delivers a lot of creative potential and a very polished experience.

Bloom Bass Groove Lite runs on macOS 10.15 or higher (including native Apple Silicon support) and Windows 7 or higher. It’s available in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats, and supports all major DAWs in 64-bit environments only.
