We’ve got some incredible news to share: pointblank has secured £1.7 million in Capital Funding from the Office for Students (OfS). This will all be spent on the student experience, helping pointblank’s facilities to stand out as world-class, alongside offering the very best teaching and learning possible via its TEF Gold recognition.
This was a highly competitive national bidding round and pointblank stood out as one of 60 institutions in England – and the only specialist music education provider on its level – to be awarded substantial support. It’s a huge milestone for our community and a serious boost for what we can offer our students.
What is OfS and Capital Funding?
The OfS is the independent regulator for higher education in England, focused on championing students’ interests and ensuring quality across universities and colleges. In simple terms, capital funding means investment in big, future-proof improvements: new spaces, upgraded studios, cutting-edge equipment; the kind of long-term assets that transform how students learn and create.
Elevating Our Facilities to the Next Level
With an already impressive state-of-the-art facility, we’re supercharging our learning spaces to the next level. Our project will expand and refurbish specialist facilities across our two London campuses: Penn Street and Orsman Road; covering music production, radio, podcasting, and immersive audio engineering. All of this is designed with one purpose: providing our students the strongest, most future-focused training environment possible.
Standing Out with a Bold Vision
We identified a real skills gap in immersive audio and live broadcasting and our project is designed to help close it. A core part of our approach is widening participation in technical creative roles. We’re especially focused on encouraging more women into these areas, while also being mindful of the broader representation gaps that exist across the music industry. We aim to create opportunities that feel inclusive, supportive and accessible to everyone.
