A quick look at Things Fold
Things Fold is a dynamic wavefolder inspired by the classic Serge Wave Multipliers, bringing the sound of analog diode-based wavefolding into your DAW. It’s capable of everything from soft harmonic enhancement to aggressive, metallic distortion.
The beauty of wavefolding is that it bends the waveform back on itself instead of clipping it, creating rich, evolving harmonics that can sound warm, complex, or downright chaotic depending on how far you push it.
The plugin’s core controls include Fold (for the amount of wavefolding), Envelope (for dynamic modulation), and adjustable Attack and Release times for the built-in envelope follower.
You can also switch between Pre and Post modes to decide whether the feedback and filters act before or after the wavefolding stage. It may seem like a small change, but it has a trmendous impact on the tone.
Speaking of filters, Things Fold features both high-pass and low-pass filters, along with a feedback control that can push your sound into self-oscillating madness if you want it to.
When used subtly, it adds a bit of character to your signal. But if you crank it up, you’ll find yourself in experimental territory perfect for drones, modular-style textures, or glitchy percussion.
Trust me, the distortion gets seriously aggressive and almost glitchy with this one, but I love the range you get with Things Fold. It also sounds terrific on moderate settings, and especially with a bit of modulation.
Other thoughtful touches include oversampling (up to 16x), parameter locking, a preset randomizer, and GUI brightness/contrast adjustment. It’s simple enough to learn quickly but deep enough to keep surprising you as you explore.

I’ve found Things Fold great for bringing digital synths to life, as well as percussion loops. A touch of folding adds analog-like grit, while automating the envelope follower makes sounds breathe and respond to dynamics in a really musical way.
This offer includes the desktop version only (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP formats), compatible with macOS (10.13+), Windows (7+), and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+).
