It appears Young Thug might recover some of the items seized during his racketeering case.
Fox 5 Atlanta reports that a Fulton County judge tossed a civil forfeiture case tied to the YSL RICO trial, which means that the recently freed rapper might get some of his property back, including $150,000 in cash, a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2022 Porsche 911, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2018 Lamborghini, several guns, and various jewelry pieces.
Thug’s attorneys argued that the state had missed a deadline for the civil forfeiture case to continue.
On Monday (Aug. 18), Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker ruled in favor of Thug. However, she reminded both sides that the state is permitted to file an appeal, and if that happens, then his property won’t be returned until the appeal is settled.
The prosecution responded to Judge Whitaker’s decision in a statement.
“While we are gratified that the defendant will not be receiving gang-related jewelry back, we are perplexed that Judge Whitaker dismissed the case based on a timeline requested by defense counsel and a date the court set for trial. We are evaluating the case now for possible appeal considering that strange procedural history,” Deputy District Attorney Jeff DiSantis said.
Thug’s items were seized during the gang and racketeering trial, involving him and his YSL crew. He was incarcerated during the trial, from May 2022 to October 2024, and was released after accepting a plea deal. Thug was sentenced to five years in prison, commuted to time served, 15 years on probation, as well as a “backloaded” 20-year sentence, which would only be served if he violates his probation.
Back in February, several pieces of Thug’s jewelry were returned to Rafaello & Company Inc., including a Rolex Datejust watch with a “King Slime” engraving, a diamond cross pendant, diamond stud earrings, and a diamond ring with 13 diamonds, among other items.
