YouTuber Ms. Rachel may know her way around the online space, but Instagram is the one platform that causes her some confusion. So much so, she missed a message from a music legend.
In an interview on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast that dropped Thursday, August 7, Rachel — whose real name is Rachel Accurso — explained that she didn’t realize that there were different sections in one’s Instagram inbox.
“I am an elder millennial, so I’m not amazing with Instagram,” Accurso said. “So I didn’t know about the requests and top requests, so I ghosted some people for months.”
She continued, explaining that while she knows of certain stars, some people’s handles confuse her.
“Anyway, I’m not a cool person who knows a lot about celebrities, so when I saw a ‘bad girl Riri,’ I was like, ‘Wow this person has so many followers,'” Accurso said, referencing Rihanna’s Instagram handle @badgalriri. “And then I was like, ‘This is such a cute little profile picture, because it’s a drawing.'”

Accurso noted that she honestly had no idea that the profile belonged to the “Umbrella” hitmaker. But some of her other friends clued her in after she asked them if they recognized the drawing — which has been Rihanna’s profile picture for the past decade.
“I asked some people that were around, I was like, ‘Do you know who this is?’” she said. “And I realized it was Rihanna.”
“I was like, ‘Wow,'” Accurso said. “Yeah, that was crazy.”
Though Accurso didn’t reveal the details of Rihanna’s message, or if she even reached out after, it’s likely that the message contained praise from the Fenty Beauty founder — whose children probably watch Ms. Rachel’s content.
Rihanna is the mother to RZA, 3, and Riot, 23 months, both of whom, she shares with A$AP Rocky. She is currently pregnant with their third baby.
