Celestial Voices is part of the Sonixinema Origins series, and for anyone who hasn’t heard me say it a million times already, I love the Origins series.
The Origins series has already given us some outstanding libraries like Whispering Woodwinds, Emotive Brass, Delicate Strings, and Ethereal Pads.
With this latest addition, Sonixinema adds some powerful and angelic vocals to the mix thanks to a collaboration with the outstanding and world-renowned soprano, Grace Davidson.
Besides performing in almost every iconic theatre and opera house, Grace Davidson has provided vocals for many blockbuster soundtracks, particularly in the fantasy realm, including The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
With that in mind, Celestial Voices is ideal for scoring anything from fantasy projects to action scenes. I’ve always loved the use of ironically calming Baroque vocals in action scenes; although somewhat dated and overused, it still works.
You can also transform the angelic character of these vocals into something much more modern and edgier using the built-in tape saturation or Gater.
Celestial Voices has the same simple interface as previous Origins releases (if you’ve not downloaded them yet, please check them out; they are great).
In the Global tab, the Dynamics and Expression sliders allow you to humanise the performance in real-time. You’ll also find the same Gloss, Blur, and Stereo controls, as always.
Additional tabs include FX (Reverb, Degrade, Delay), EQ, and ENV, with a dedicated page for the Gater.
Celestial Voices offers six presets: Awaken, Breathless, Dreamstate, Grit, Lost Soul, and Turbulence.
Of the six presets, two feature the Gater (Dreamstate and Turbulance) and have a more modern glitchy sound with a pretty broad appeal. The Gater is fully customizable so that you can create unique rhythmic textures.
Grit is another standout preset, utilising the tape saturation (Degrade) effect, that showcases the range of Celestial Voices beyond the typical Baroque sound.
If you check out the entire demo video, you’ll hear a short performance of all Origins releases together, and it’s lovely.

I hope Sonixinema continues to expand the Origins series, as it’s a genuinely fantastic free toolkit for media composers and anyone looking to add a touch of orchestral charm to their songs.
