Metro Boomin Shuts Down Joe Budden Smoke Talk, Says He’s …

Metro Boomin has made it very clear that he has no issues with Joe Budden or the Joe Budden Podcast despite an unfavorable review of his new mixtape, A Futuristic Summa.

On Sunday’s episode of the former rapper’s podcast, Budden and his co-hosts — Ice, Ish and Parks — discussed Metro’s latest offering, with Joe describing how he skipped multiple songs.

Apparently, fans caught wind of their comments and interpreted some of Metro’s recent social media posts — where he called out those who criticized the mixtape unfairly — as a response to Budden and company’s lukewarm review, especially since he re-posted a fan calling out the JBP previously.

The Atlanta-based DJ and producer responded to a community post on X that said he and Budden have “smoke.”

“Let’s not do this! Big fan of the JBP and I’ve been a regular viewer for years and am even a subscriber on Patreon!” Metro wrote. “I respect everything that was said up there (except Ish saying no girls are listening to this, n***a are you crazy LOL) ALL LOVE.”

Metro shared the original posts included in the community post on Sunday, the same day that the JBP episode in question dropped. Timing-wise, the fan theory could make sense.

On the JBP, the four co-hosts briefly discussed Metro’s project, with Budden saying that he’s taking Metro “off” his “instant purchase list,” at around the 57 minute mark in the video above.

“I saw you up there. I didn’t know you was dropping. I bought it because you’ve been on a run and I clicked this shit,” Budden said, adding that he’s “still waiting” for his “vibe” on the project after tapping out on track five.

“I’m giving you my experience. I went to track five, I cut if off immediately, never to return to it,” Budden said. “Now, I’m not saying that I won’t return to it. That was the end of my Metro Boomin experience.”

All of them then complained about how they didn’t know who was on each song. “If you’re a producer, put the fucking names of the people on the song. Say featuring like a decent human being is all we saying,” Budden yelled.

He then dialed back his criticism a bit by adding, “I see a lot of people praising this album so I’m not gonna shit on it. I only heard five songs.”Last Friday (August 1), Metro dropped off A Futuristic Summa, a mixtape inspired by Atlanta’s sound. The tape features Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Quavo, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, Young Dro, Yung LA, Roscoe Dash, 2 Chainz, T.I., Travis Porter and more.

ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
