Meek Mill threw his two cents into the conversation about ESPN firing Shannon Sharpe following his sexual assault lawsuit settlement.
On Wednesday night, Meek shared his opinion online, saying, “Y’all too old to be getting fired fr……” He did so underneath a tweet reporting that Sharpe had been let go from the sports network.
Meek’s take comes on on the heels of Sharpe being let go from ESPN on Wednesday after his sexual assault lawsuit in Nevada was resolved earlier this month.
Sharpe commented on the matter, explaining that he had apologized to his brother, Sterling Sharpe, for the news of his firing overshadowing Sterling’s Pro Football Hall of Fame announcement.
“Obviously, I’m sure everybody’s heard the news by now that I will not be returning to ESPN,” he said in a Wednesday episode of his Nightcap podcast. “I found out this information a little earlier in the week and really the only thing that I really ask is like, guys, could we wait until Monday. My brother’s going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I really wanted it to be about him and I wanted it to be about my family.”
In a statement released by attorney Tony Buzbee earlier this month, Buzbee confirmed that “after protracted and respectful negotiations, we have reached a mutually agreed‑upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”
Sharpe denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” in a video posted to X. He vowed to defend himself and his legal team echoed that stance, calling the allegations against the media personality “meritless.”
