Tyrese is facing more legal issues and is being accused of owing nearly half a million dollars in unpaid legal fees stemming from his divorce from ex-wife Samantha Gibson, TMZ first reported.
According to court documents obtained by Complex, Samantha submitted her fourth motion asking the judge to hold Tyrese in contempt for allegedly refusing to pay $492,651.99 that’s owed to her legal teams, The Gleklen Law Firm and Bloom Lines Alexander. His ex-wife’s lawyers are pushing for a criminal contempt ruling that could land him behind bars for as long as 20 days.
The court filing alleges that despite having the ability to pay, Tyrese “has made no effort whatsoever” to pay the fees or interest, which the court previously deemed enforceable. Tyrese had also been issued contempt rulings on May 4, 2023, October 3, 2023, and October 4, 2024, per the filing.
Tyrese hasn’t minced his words about Samantha either as he’s expressed several times how he feels about her. During an interview on Angela Yee’s Lip Service last year, Tyrese claimed Samantha is the one woman who truly “hurt” him.
“There’s nobody in the world who’s caught me more off guard and hurt me more than that woman,” said Tyrese at the time. “So no, I don’t trust you. I will never ever be able to unsee an unfeel. Doesn’t mean I’m festering and I’m bitter. It means thank you Jesus that someone in their true intentions was revealed to me and I’m gonna make the decision to not hang out with pain.”
The couple married in 2017 and share a daughter, Soraya. The couple finalized their divorce in 2020 and have been having a legal dispute over finances tied to their split ever since.
