Nino Paid was arrested in his hometown of Maryland this week for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
According to XXL, the “Joey Story” rapper was booked on Thursday (July 24) in Prince George’s County, Maryland, for the unlawful taking of a vehicle and theft of $25,000 to under $100,000.
On the same day, a picture went viral showing the 23-year-old rapper being handcuffed while heavily surrounded by U.S. Marshals.
On Friday (July 25), Nino (real name Jacquan Andrews) was released on his own recognizance. He is due in court on September 26.
Nino Paid previously spent 18 months in a youth detention center for stealing a vehicle, which he spoke about at length in a 2024 interview with DJ Smallz.

Around the 2-minute mark in the video below, the rapper said he was in a stolen car at a gas station when police unexpectedly approached him.
During his time being incarcerated, Nino earned his GED and told Smallz that he didn’t “regret” his time behind bars, saying he became a “different person.”
Nino Paid was selected as part of Complex‘s 25 Artists to Watch In 2025.
“The 23-year-old lays out his traumas plainly to listeners but balances them with the promise of resolve, a rare feat in a region whose rap scene is largely characterized by notes of aggression,” Millan Verma said of the rapper. “Already amassing over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Nino Paid’s rawness could lead to an even bigger 2025.”
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
