Joyner Lucas is keeping the transatlantic beef with Skepta simmering with the release of his latest diss track, “Round 2 K.O.”
Earlier this month, Skepta suggested that he was eager to ignite a U.K. versus U.S. battle between rappers, and Lucas was among those eager to step up to the challenge. Skepta took aim at Lucas on the first diss track of the beef with “Friendly Fire,” jokingly accusing the American rapper of rapping “lyrical miracle”-style. Lucas then responded with “Nobody Cares.” Skepta unleashed his second track of the beef with “Round 2” last week, and now Lucas is back with “Round 2 K.O.”
“Stop talkin’ ‘bout hits and that platinum shit / Lil’ ho, you barely went sheet metal,” he raps on the latest diss. “How you gon’ steal ASAP Rocky swag / And fuck it all up and go gay with it? (Innit) / You started it / I ain’t duckin’ no smoke, want all of it / Want to steal my culture and talk your shit ‘cause you mad that you can’t be a part of it.”
Elsewhere in the diss, he also brings up Skepta’s longstanding association with Drake, whom he performed with at Wireless Festival in London this month. “You got a lil’ cosign and you proud of it,” he raps. “You’ll do anythin’ just to get a lil’ OVO chain, even swallow it … Since you wanna talk about influence, let’s talk about the female clothes you rock, boy / I seen you in an interview dressed like a bitch, I guess you really a top boy.”
When Joyner Lucas stepped up to the challenge of a beef with Skepta earlier this month, the grime MC initially said he “wasn’t even going to reply.” He also jokingly referred to Lucas as “a brave man,” and asked, “How long you been waiting for this moment though?”
