Doechii believes this generation doesn’t have any superstars quite yet, but that’s because there hasn’t been enough time to develop them.
In the August 2025 issue of British Vogue, which dropped on Thursday, July 10, the “Booty Drop” rapper revealed that she’s not even quite sure what it takes to make a superstar in this day and age.
“We don’t really have a superstar of this generation just yet, because there hasn’t been enough time,” she told the outlet from a studio in North Hollywood.
She continued: “When I look at pop culture right now, I’m just trying to figure out, ‘OK, what does a Doechii superstar look like? What does it take to make that?’ I have no clue.”
For what it’s worth, the Tampa, FL native is well on her way to superstar status. Last month, her collaboration with Tyler, the Creator, dropped at Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring/Summer 226 show at Paris Fashion Week.
The song, called “Get Right,” also featured Pharrell Williams behind the production boards.
Doechii also received a shoutout from an unlikely source: Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda, who cited the “MPH” rapper as one he’d like to collaborate with soon.
Shinoda, who sat down with Drink Champs for an exclusive interview, also said he’d like to collaborate with Lauryn Hill and Rah Digga, and gave the legendary Queen Latifah her flowers, too.
“She’s so confident and she’s not like selling sex… she felt like a role model,” he said of the former Equalizer star.
He then pivoted back to Doechii. “Oh, Doechii. Why didn’t I say Doechii? … I should’ve said Doechii earlier,” he said.
Drink Champs co-host DJ EFN chimed in, “She’s Andre meets Tyler the Creator, but better as a female.”
N.O.R.E. replied, “I like that analogy. I agree with you.”
