It’s a big year for Young Money.
Not only did Lil Wayne drop Tha Carter VI in June; he’s also been making impressive moves when it comes to his label. He recently announced several new signees, including Lucifena, Young Money’s first female rock artist.
“I met Lucifena in LA,” Wayne explained on his radio show. “I was listening to different types of music. I was vibing off the music, and then I heard Luci scream.”
Wayne was impressed with what he heard, so he asked her to send some music, and when he received a song called “Tyrant,” he liked it so much that he wanted to jump on it. So he asked Lucifena to send over the stems, and during the process of collaborating, he found out that she wasn’t signed.
Wayne happily extended an offer for her to join Young Money. Now, the deal is official, and their collaboration is out in the world, alongside a music video.
“Tyrant” is two and a half minutes of explosive, hard-hitting rock, anchored by Lucifena’s powerful vocals. Wayne holds his own, spitting confident bars before belting out a scream of his own. Check it out on Spotify and Apple Music, or watch the music video at the top of this page.
