Sean “Diddy” Combs made a public appearance on Tuesday (June 8) following the mostly-triumphant verdict last week in his sex trafficking and racketeering trial, but it only lasted a few minutes. The mogul and his lead attorney Mark Agnifilo joined a hearing via telephone with prosecutors to try to figure out a sentencing date.
However, the hearing only lasted a few minutes since the parties had already agreed on a schedule, which Agnfilio explained to the judge in a series of letters that became public moments before the hearing began. The hearing was so short, in fact, that at least one of Diddy’s supporters didn’t even have a chance to make it into the courtroom.
While the final plan awaits an okay from Judge Arun Subramanian, the sides jointly proposed a schedule that would see the mogul sentenced on October 3 — the date Subramanian originally proposed last week — for two counts of violating the Mann Act.

That plan followed another, earlier proposed schedule, which asked for the sentencing to be moved up to September 22. However, that request appeared as of this writing to be overruled by the request for the October 3 date. Subramanian is expected to finalize the sentencing date shortly.
At Diddy’s bond hearing on July 2, where he was ordered to remain in jail until sentencing, lead prosecutor Maureen Comey made clear that she would ask for the longest possible sentence of 20 years.
In addition, at that hearing, the two sides had differing interpretations of the federal sentencing guidelines that apply to Combs’ case. The defense said that the guidelines state Combs should receive between 21-27 months imprisonment, while prosecutors said it was between 51-63 months. Whatever the judge’s ultimate decision about that, he has the option to impose a below-guidelines sentence, as low as time served.
