Caelum Audio has launched a 50% site-wide sale and released the free Toyphonic Micraliser.
It’s that time of year again, International Joke Day, which can only mean one thing!
Corey Feldman is releasing a sequel to his 2016 two-disc studio album, Angelic 2 the Core. If you haven’t heard Angelic 2 the Core yet, what are you doing with yourself?
The album is packed with music and lyrics that sound like they came straight from the creators of South Park, and features superstar collaborations with Kurupt, Snoop Dogg, and Fred Durst.
It’s painfully hard to imagine how the 80s movie icon could improve on the original, and thankfully, we don’t have to because it’s all lies, I mean, it’s a joke.
But there is one thing that we’ve come to expect on International Joke Day: a new plugin from the mad scientists at Caelum Audio.
Caelum Audio has previously given us humorous freebies like Dustbin and SUBscription, and now they are back, right on time, with Toyphonic Micraliser.

Toyphonic Micraliser is the vocal plugin you didn’t know you needed because you don’t need it, but you should get it; makes sense, right?
Toyphonic Micraliser is a microphone emulation, featuring impulse responses that deliver the character of a toy microphone and the worst loudspeakers you can imagine.
You can manipulate the impulse responses through Attack and Decay curves, just in case the sound isn’t quite terrible enough.
The plugin also features an LFO, envelope follower, and a built-in sequencer.
In theory, we have a microphone emulation with a decent amount of customization, albeit unnecessary.
In practice, we can take a terrible singing voice like mine, make it sound worse, and add lots of movement till we hit rock bottom, at which point, the only way is up, and it’s been a worthwhile experiment (kind of).
Toyphonic Micraliser pokes fun at all involved: the developer, the industry, the users, and isn’t to be taken seriously. As most things absurd do, it presents a challenge – and that’s to find a genuine use with results that are more than hilarious, you never know!
On a serious note, the reason I mentioned Corey Feldman earlier is because I believe it’s important to give credit where it’s due. He was making bad vocals worse long before Toyphonic Micraliser came along, and he did it all without joking.
