Shia LaBeouf Says He’s ‘Jim Jones’ — But Fans Are Confuse…

Shia LaBeouf has left some fans a little confused after a statement he made about himself on social media this week.

On Thursday (June 26), the actor, seemingly unprompted, declared: “I AM JIM JONES.” He didn’t provide any further explanation alongside the tweet, which he has since pinned to the top of his profile.

Without additional context, his post could mean multiple things — and be about more than one person. It seems like he’s either talking about Diplomats rapper Jim Jones, who has recently been in the headlines again after he suggested he has a better discography than Nas, or the Jim Jones who led the infamous cult the Peoples Temple.

Regardless of how you feel about Capo’s comments about Nas, the other aforementioned option isn’t anything Labeouf would want to draw comparisons to, especially when he’s facing sexual battery and assault allegations from his ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs.

Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple was responsible for the largest mass murder-suicide in history at his remote Jonestown commune in 1978. Over 900 commune members died by drinking Flavor Aid, not Kool Aid as commonly believed, which was laced with cyanide.

LaBeouf, who is scheduled to go to trial in September over the abuse allegations levied against him by FKA Twigs, is likely comparing himself to the rapper. But that didn’t stop some social media users from asking him to clarify which Jim Jones he’s referring to.

Jim Jones — the rapper, just to be clear — has not responded to LaBeouf’s tweet.

The latest in the Jim Jones-Nas saga, Capo has voiced that he believes being compared to God’s Son has made the Grammy winner go “viral.”

On the Wednesday (July 25) episode of podcast BagFuel, Jim was again asked about the comparison, and he broke down record sales versus relevancy.

“There’s a lot of people that sold more records than me that are also not around anymore,” he said. “Diamond, five-time platinum, four-time platinum, gold artist–I’ve seen it since 1997. Gone. I’m still here.”

Jones added that no matter the “narrative” people try to paint, he’s still around in 2025 while other rap pioneers aren’t. Despite this, Nas is considered a rap icon, having released an impressive 17 solo studio albums. His most recent, Magic 3, dropped in 2023.

Still, Jones thinks that he made Nas a trending topic in 2025. “What I did for Nas probably never been done for him in his life. He’s never been that viral at all. Ever,” Jones said. “Ever. He’s never been talked about like this ever in his life.”
