While a lot of New Yorkers are enthusiastic about Zohran Mamdani, the presumptive Democratic mayoral nominee for the NYC mayoral election, 50 Cent isn’t feeling his plans to tax the rich.
In a since-deleted post shared on Instagram, following the news that he’ll portray Balrog in a new Street Fighter movie, 50 Cent shared a clip of Zohran Mamdani on The Breakfast Club discussing his proposed policies. Mamdani also name-dropped the rapper. Fif didn’t appear too happy with the mention, but agreed with Mamdani’s suggestion that he won’t like some of his policies.
“Where did he come from 👀 whose friend is this?” wrote 50 Cent of the progressive candidate, who outperformed Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primaries for the 2025 mayoral election. “I’m not feeling this plan no. I will give him $258,750 and a first class one way ticket away from NY. I’m telling Trump what he said too!”

During his June 11 appearance on The Breakfast Club, Mamdani broke down his plans to increase tax for the wealthy and businesses making “millions of dollars, not in revenue, but in profit” in NYC. He stressed that he’ll only increase personal taxes for the top 1 percent of New Yorkers. “We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more, taxing them just by a flat 2 percent tax increase,” Mamdani said.
“I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this,” he added. “He tends to not like this tax policy, but I want to be very clear this is about $20,000 a year.” 50 Cent was estimated to have a net worth of almost $1 billion last year, so his taxes could increase if Mamdani wins the election (and if he’s an NYC resident). He could definitely afford it, though.
