Suge Knight believes that Diddy will name-drop big celebrities that he’s been involved with if he takes the stand in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial.
Knight called in from prison to speak on Aubrey O’Day’s Covering The Diddy Trial podcast about what he expects to happen during the court proceedings. When host O’Day brought up the possibility of Diddy telling on anyone else, Knight agreed that it could potentially happen.
“He might be stupid sometimes, but he’s not dumb,” suggested Knight. “If they give Puffy the opportunity to humanize himself, it’ll be the best thing for the culture of hip-hop. It’ll be one of the biggest power moves of the US.”
“They shouldn’t let him get washed up,” Knight continued. “Does he deserve to get something? He deserves to get something. I don’t think they should give him a lot of time. Let’s be honest.”
Later on in the interview, Knight made it clear that he really wants Diddy to take the stand. “Cut the deal first,” he suggested as if Diddy were listening. “Get a situation where wherever you say on the stand, they use against you. When you get on that stand, fix hip-hop, fix the culture of our people.”
Knight’s comments about Diddy come days after he spoke to People about his opinion on Diddy striking Cassie.
“I never said he should walk away a free man. He does deserve [prison],” Knight said. “I don’t mean like… ‘Oh, you beat the shit out of Cassie, so, oh well.’ No, she’s a woman. You should never disrespect a woman like that […] I think everyone should be held accountable — even myself. I don’t care who it is. Anybody who does those horrible things to women deserves their issue.”
Knight revealed that seeing the video footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie disturbed him. The incarcerated mogul deemed Diddy’s actions to be “unacceptable.”
“I had never really seen a woman get dragged, beaten and disrespected like that before […] When he came around that corner, Puff did beat the dog shit out of her,” said Suge.
In court, Diddy recently had to sit through the jury watching videos from his “freak-offs.”
Diddy’s defense showed clips from one of the events to the jury on June 17. The mogul reportedly saw some of these clips privately before testimony started, but not in the courtroom itself. He listened to the clips while the jury and prosecutor watched while wearing headphones.
Speaking of the jury, one Black male juror was dismissed on June 16 due to inconsistencies in his answers about where he lived. Diddy’s legal team argued against striking the juror in an opposition letter that was dated June 15. In the letter, Diddy’s legal team “respectfully request that a mistrial be declared.”
