Amid renewed claims of Tory Lanez’s innocence in shooting Megan Thee Stallion despite his conviction, Amber Rose has come to his defense.
On Wednesday, the model shared a clip of Rep. Anna Paulina telling Chris Cuomo that Lanez is innocent in the 2020 shooting incident—and that his case was brought to Paulina’s attention by Rose.
“This isn’t about music, gender or popularity it’s about justice,” Rose captioned the video. “@torylanez is someone son, he is a father. If he was in fact wrongly convicted he should be pardoned immediately. Shout out to @thelondonheiress and @realannapaulina for doing all the heavy lifting and pursuing the truth.”
In the clip, Paulina explained that there is evidence that “disproves” his conviction. The Florida congresswoman said there was “four people’s DNA on that firearm, none of which was Tory’s,” and that Ring footage also proves his innocence.
“The evidence wasn’t actually respected and properly adhered to actually in the trial,” Paulina claimed. “And they were also doing something that I would find pretty wild and egregious. They’re actually submitting his lyrics for rap as evidence to the crime.”
She said that she’s setting up a meeting with California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office and other California Democrats to discuss Lanez’s case.
“I think [the case] was largely driven by headlines and aside from the people involved and the parties involved, obviously I take domestic violence, I take this very seriously, Chris,” Paulina said. “But I also take very seriously the fact that I do believe based on the evidence that I’ve seen that Tory is innocent.”
Earlier this week, Paulina, who is a Republican, called for Newsom to grant Lanez a pardon.
“His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. Justice must be blind—not driven by headlines,” she tweeted alongside a link to a petition for his release.
However, Megan’s legal team has pushed against claims that new evidence proves Lanez’s innocence. On Thursday, Megan’s team shared a presentation with evidence that supported Lanez’s 2022 conviction, including text messages between him and Meg in 2020 that show him acknowledging he shot her.
Other evidence includes a prison call from Lanez to Meg’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, who was present at the time of the shooting, where he admitted to being “so fucking drunk” that night. Text messages from Harris to her bodyguard show that she admitted, “Tory shot Meg.”
Elsewhere in the presentation, Megan’s legal team showed Megan and Harris’ claims that Lanez tried to pay them $1 million each to remain silent. DNA evidence showed that Harris’ DNA was not on the firearm, and footage from the Ring camera was already played at the trial.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his connection to the shooting. Last week, the incarcerated artist made headlines after he was allegedly stabbed 14 times by another inmate.
