The artist formerly known as Kanye West, wrote both “I’m a Nazi” and “I love Hitler” on the increasingly useless social media platform formerly known as Twitter, says he’s “done with antisemitism.”
In a post shared early Thursday morning, Ye wrote, “I am done with antisemitism.” The 47-year-old, 24-time Grammy winner went on to say that he has “love” for “all people.” He also asked a higher power for forgiveness “for the pain I’ve caused.”
To be clear, we’ve been down this road before, at least to some degree. In December 2023, a statement was shared to Ye’s Instagram that read, in part, “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions.” That statement, however, did not outright see Ye claiming that he is “done with antisemitism.” At the time, Ye was roughly a year removed from an interview with Alex Jones during which he said, among other things, “I like Hitler.”
This has also come up in Ye’s music, including on “Vultures” (“How I’m antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch”) and the chorus of Vultures 1 closer “King.” More recently, he questioned how he could be “actin’ like Hitler” on the Dave Blunts-assisted “WW3.”
Thursday morning also saw Ye telling fans that he wants to “save the world again” following a FaceTime call with his and ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s children, seemingly suggesting this conversation was the impetus behind his latest statement. See more below.
In the past, Ye has, albeit convolutedly, pointed to both Joaquin Phoenix-style performance art and a revenge-driven “gimmick” as the impetus behind his years’ worth of Nazi-focused controversies. Neither of these explanations, however, have seemed to hold much weight with the general public.
