W. A. Production is giving away Satyrus, its $39.90 distortion plugin, completely free via BVKER until October 3, 2025.
This is a limited-time offer. To get it, you need to register an account on BVKER’s site, complete the zero-cost checkout, and redeem your license with W. A. Production.
This is one of several deals and freebies we’ve seen from W. A. Production recently. You can still get their Helper Series 2 for free if you like simple but effective mixing utilities. We also offered Obsidian for free on BPB for a limited time last month.
Satyrus was designed by Austrian composer Günther Rabl and developed by Re-Compose GmbH. It delivers a wide range of distortion flavors, from warm tape-like drive to chaotic tones and grungy grit.
You get eight different distortion and saturation modes, including Power Distortion, Fresnel Distortion, Hyperbolic Overdrive, Logarithmic Coloration, Circular Projection, Cosine Modulation, Satyric Crunch, and Fresnel Saturation. Each one has its own personality and use case.
Power Distortion is the go-to for aggressive gain shaping. It dramatically alters amplitude without touching the spectral balance.
Hyperbolic Overdrive, on the other hand, is ideal for transient-heavy material like cinematic drums or synth shots, adding punch without dulling the edges.
Logarithmic Coloration is great on vocals, giving them that extra lift and presence without sounding overprocessed. Then there’s Circular Projection, which is one of the more intense choices on offer. It’s fantastic on dark pads or sub-heavy bass sounds that need some energy and movement.
Satyrus features a well-designed, dark-themed interface with a real-time visual display that shows exactly how the input signal is being distorted. You can dial in the intensity with the input gain, watch the waveform curve change as you tweak it, and see the output response live as your audio plays through.
The plugin runs in both mono and stereo and supports user presets for quick recall. I love quick and versatile distortion tools like this one. It feels like a toolbox of overdrive and distortion effects, and it’s super handy if you like to have multiple options in one convenient package.
So, if you’re into creative distortion, sound design, or just want to expand your mixing toolkit without spending money, Satyrus is well worth grabbing while it’s free.
It’s compatible with VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats and works on Windows 7+ and macOS 10.9+ (64-bit only).
