Delay Rings 8-Bit (Japan) is a brand-new version of the developer’s flagship dynamic delay engine, and you can grab it for just $12 while the intro offer lasts. That’s a massive 70% discount!
The introductory sale will last for another 17 days (as of the time of writing – 26 January 2026).
But if you want something with a twist, Delay Rings 8-Bit is worth a look.
That twist is given away by the name; it’s that distinct 8-bit character, reminiscent of the third generation of video games (the 8-bit era, led by two Japanese consoles: the Sega Master System and Nintendo NES).
So, Delay Rings 8-Bit isn’t a straightforward delay plugin; it introduces texture and grit, making it more of a character-defining effect.
The texture and grit are inspired by the digital imperfections of devices past, and that bit-crushed top end gives it the authentic vintage-gaming sound.
Delay Rings 8-Bit features two independent delay engines that move in circular motion around the stereo field.
Each delay engine has a dedicated filter (HP/LP), gain, and feedback controls. You can also adjust the delay length and direction per engine.
You can create complex interwoven patterns, but it’s the saturated harmonics that make this delay interesting.
Sounds from 8-bit consoles have a distinct fizzy character; even if the body of the sound is relatively smooth, you get this fizz overlay, and that’s what Delay Rings 8-Bit gives us.
But it’s not just for someone scoring a retro video game; that character is useful in all sorts of electronic music.
Additionally, if you want to twist the character further with pitch-shifting echoes, you have some built-in modulation controls.
You also have onboard reverb and stereo width controls.
The last feature of the interface might be the most important: the auto-ducker module. Things can get messy fast with any complex delay plugin, but with that crunch and fizz in the mix, the ducker is an easy way to keep things clean when you have to.
At the time of writing, W.A. Production is offering a free product with any purchase, and there are a few options to choose from.
