Van Hunt has revealed he’s already proposed to Halle Berry — but there won’t be wedding bells anytime soon.
In an interview with Today.com following their joint appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends on Wednesday (June 4), the singer-songwriter went into detail about about the (so far) failed proposal.
“So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,” Hunt said, as Berry laughed. “It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”
Berry then explained why she hasn’t accepted the proposal yet.
“Well, I’ve been married three times,” she shared. “Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”
She added: “But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married. And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”

Asked about when she might officially say “I do,” the Oscar-winner smiled and responded: “Soon.”
The couple went public with their relationship in September 2020 and have shared glimpses of their romance — including an intimate video from their bedroom with a bottle of lubricant to celebrate Mother’s Day.
“I think everybody’s been really happy, at least for me personally, people have been like, ‘You finally found … !’ I’ve always wanted what we have,” Berry told Today. “I always saw myself in a committed, loving relationship with like my best friend, someone that I respect and I love.”
Berry shares 17-year-old daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and 11-year-old son Maceo with ex-husband Oliver Martinez. She was also married to former MLB player David Justice from 1993 to 1997. She then married musician Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005.
Hunt also has a son from a prior relationship.
