Big Boi recently lost his uncle to a fatal shooting, and now two suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder.
As reported by TMZ, 62-year-old Remoin ‘Moonie’ Patton was fatally shot by 18-year-old Jabyrion Crumbley following a road rage incident in Atlanta on June 16. On Wednesday (July 3), Crumbley turned himself into authorities and was booked into Fulton County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Shortly after the shooting of Patton, another individual was arrested for hindering the apprehension of a felon. Janisha Crumbley was arrested by authorities, but was later released. It’s not immediately clear how the two Crumbleys are related, if at all.
Big Boi recently eulogized his uncle with a touching video tribute shared on Instagram. “Long Live Uncle Moonie ….Miss ya UNC [broken heart emoji],” he wrote alongside the video, which can be seen below. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
In a statement provided to WSB-TV2, Big Boi said: “Everybody who knows Uncle Moonie heart aches. He wasn’t just ‘My’ Uncle, he was Unc to all that met him. A moment of rage has in totally pierced the heart of my family forever. May Uncle Moonie’s soul rest in peace.”

The death of Big Boi’s uncle comes a little over a year after the OutKast rapper lost close friend and frequent collaborator Rico Wade, who died of heart failure at the age of 52.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram, Big Boi reacted to the heartbreaking news, sharing a carousel of photos and videos in honor of Wade.
“This is a different type of hurt …. [broken heart emoji] Slick Ricky Wade .. I know you’re with us STILL … in a bigger role now… Big Angel Energy… the Highest of Vibrations … Praise Yah,” Big Boi wrote in the caption for his late friend.
The carousel also included video clips, one where the Big Boi described Wade’s role and impact on Atlanta hip-hop, another with someone spray painting ‘RIP Rico Wade’ on a sidewalk, and a final video of Wade himself talking about Organized Noize.
