Tory Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, has shared that he believes his son will be released from prison sometime soon.
Voicing his thoughts on Power 106 on Wednesday (July 2), Peterson hinted that Lanez could be writing a book soon about his experience. “I believe with all of my heart that he will be out and much sooner than a lot of people think,” he said.
Later during the conversation, when asked if he had a concrete date that Lanez would be released, Peterson gave more details about why he thinks his son is coming home soon.
“I wouldn’t go on record giving a date right now, but what I will say is that there are movements happening in the background,” said Peterson. “The powers that be can clearly see that this was a hatchet job.”
“There are things happening right now, and, like I said, I believe it’s much sooner than a lot of people think, than later,” continued Peterson. “He’s coming home.”

Peterson also gave some details about what people can expect from Lanez’s book. “His book is going to inspire a lot of people,” he said. “It’s going to show that you can go through the hardest storm of your life and come out a star.”
Peterson’s comments about Lanez come nearly two months after the singer/rapper was injured in a prison stabbing. According to an Instagram post from his account, he was stabbed 14 times and suffered collapsed lungs because of the incident.
After the stabbing, Tory was moved to a new prison facility in San Luis Obispo County. He’s currently incarcerated at California Men’s Colony instead of Tehachapi.
In the wake of Tory’s stabbing, Drake, who previously expressed his wish for the singer to be released last year, posted a link to a petition asking for him to be pardoned. “@torylanez come soon” wrote Drake on his Instagram Story. So far, as of this writing, the petition has more than 322,000 signatures.
