Dreamtonics describes Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro as an industry-standard tool for song and vocal production, and I wholeheartedly agree with that endorsement. Developed by the Tokyo-based music software and voice technology company, this AI-powered vocal synthesizer is a game-changer. I only wish I had access to something like this years ago, when I was piecing together beats and tracks in my head and humming potential lyrics to elevate the sound.

To clarify, the AI doesn’t create songs or lyrics for you; instead, it empowers your creativity. With its built-in (albeit somewhat limited) arrangement browser, you can craft incredible song drafts and even full compositions without needing to use it as a VST within your DAW. This software is truly a remarkable asset for music creators.

First Impressions

Absolutely incredible! I’m thoroughly impressed by the creative potential of this software. The days of needing a singer on hand are no longer an obstacle. You can map out your ideas effortlessly using Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro’s arrangement and piano roll views. From there, it’s as simple as exporting the vocals or audio segments as stems or even a full mixdown.

That said, I did invest some time learning about consonants, vowels, and phonemes. Since this software features a variety of international voice models fluent in multiple languages, pronunciation can vary, adding a fascinating layer of complexity to the process. The creative possibilities are boundless!

Controls

Getting started is simple—all you need is your creativity. Choose a voice model, select the language, and optionally include a reference track. Set the track length and tempo, then start entering your lyrics. The rendering process is quick, and the best part is that you can work entirely offline!

Advanced Controls

Notes Mode allows you to choose between singing or rapping styles. The Notes section focuses on shaping the expression of your vocals. AI Retake refines key aspects like timing, pitch, and timbre for a polished and professional sound.

Voice Controls

Unsure about vocal inflections, breath control, tone, or pitch for specific sections of your track? No problem! You can adjust and stretch notes in both directions to perfect the sound. Additionally, there’s a convenient panel on the right that lets you refine and craft realistic vocal phrasing with ease.

Final Thoughts

I can’t say enough good things about this fantastic software. The ability to quickly sketch a vocal, even if you don’t have the music, is incredible.

I don’t think the purpose of this software is to replace a real singer (though we may get there one day). It’s for you to improve your workflow, reference vocals and create new ideas. This software will exceed or hold its own against its nearest competitor in Ace Studio. I have both and will often use them in tandem. Give the trial a go you won’t be disappointed.
