In celebration of the 2026 Game Developers Conference, Sonniss is giving away a game design bundle with more than 347 files (7.47 GB) of high-quality, royalty-free samples (WAV.).
Sonniss, founded in 2014, is a digital marketplace for royalty-free sounds. This bundle consists of sounds from several different libraries that you’re free to use with no strings attached, in their own words:
“We’re giving you a taste of what we have to offer with a selection of sounds from each library added over the last year. These files are straight from the source and haven’t been tampered with in any way; they are exactly the same files as we sell. Everything is royalty-free and commercially usable.”
Here, you can find a list of individual files and what sort of collection they are a part of.
“Anime Fight Voices”, “Rich Glitch”, “Nigerian Walla”, and “Dog Vocalizations Vol. 1.”, anyone? If you need something more mechanical, you can try out the sound bites of Kawasaki and Honda motorcycles, or perhaps toy quadcopters or a vintage mustang slamming the brakes?
There are also a couple of files from a library called “Volleyball Match Ambience”, which I personally found pretty funny because the existence of volleyball ambience seldom crosses my mind. What I do know, on the other hand, is that using human ambience – especially from interesting spaces – works very well to create FX layers, atmosphere, and textural movement in a track. Volleyball or not.
If this sounds a tad too eccentric for your needs, the bundle does include a huge amount of more conventional samples as well. For example, instruments like the saxophone and the legendary Aztec death whistle(!), chords, foley FX, and similar stuff.
You could probably find something that works directly in your project if you’re doing game design or movie editing. If you’re more into the sound design aspect, I still reckon a lot of these samples would be fun to run through additional FX chains or just use as-is when you need a contrasting sound effect in a project without the time to tinker with the details.
Knowing that everything is free to download and royalty-free for a lifetime is also one less thing to worry about.
If your sample library has been uninspiring lately, you might just find something cool that triggers your imagination here.
