Snoop Dogg revealed that he had confronted various fans who trolled him over his performance at President Donald Trump‘s Crypto Ball event in January.
During his appearance on The Breakfast Club, Snoop reflected on the backlash he received from his alleged association with Trump earlier this year. Snoop explained how he worked the event as a DJ and made a lot of money because of it, as well as crafting relationships that will help inner-city communities and teach financial literacy and cryptocurrency.
Snoop asked if that was a crime and proceeded to reflect on how some members of the Black community defended him, but didn’t like how he didn’t say anything to give those people a reason to protect him. He even addressed how people brought up his disparaging remarks about Trump in the past, only to turn around and be associated with the man.
According to Snoop, all that commotion is rooted in internet shenanigans, and for whatever reason, he chooses to do certain things; people can’t say anything to him because it’s his life. And for those who still called him a “sell out” Snoop would hit them up directly to make it clear that wasn’t the case.
“Can’t none of you muthafuckers tell me what I can and can’t do,” said Snoop. “But I’m not a politician. I don’t represent the Republican Party. I don’t represent the Democratic Party. I represent the muthafucking Gangster Party period point blank, and G shit we don’t explain shit so that’s why I didn’t explain. That’s why I didn’t go into detail when muthafuckers was trying to counsel me and say he a sellout.”
He continued, “Even on my Instagram page, like after that, I would post shit and I see muthafucker like ‘oh he a sellout.’ You know what I would do? Jump right in their muthafucking DM with a video, ‘You bitch ass n***a. What’s happening, n***a, I’m Snoop Dogg, n***a, what you want to do?’ And guess what they would do? ‘Oh, man, I’m just a fan man. I’m sorry.’ […] Yeah n***a, you got me fucked up. N***a, I jump all off in your shit n***a and talk to you face to face.”
Snoop added that what he does in real life and who he is as a person should matter more than what he does with his professional career. He also shut down the rumors that the Crypto Ball performance happened because Trump pardoned his Death Row Records business partner, Michael “Harry-O” Harris. Snoop clarified that the performance happened because his friend David Sacks, who is Trump’s White House AI and crypto czar, got him inside the event.
