Shy audio has announced the release of a character-rich compressor plugin inspired by the affordable rack gear of the 90s that powered countless loops, grooves, and underground hits.
Dive into the ocean of ’90s compression and get your tracks dripping wet! With Shy 90s Dynamix, you can mangle your stems into compression juice—or inject that infamous French house groove into your loops.
Shy 90s Dynamix features
- Custom multi-envelope compression engine for snappy, groove-rich behavior.
- Switchable Hard/Soft knee and adaptive RMS mode.
- Limiter mode with fixed attack/release for fast, controlled squeezing.
- Make Up gain with modeled overload behavior — soft clipping at higher levels.
- Stereo Link control: link both channels or leave unlinked for wider stereo movement.
- Internal sidechain filter (“Bam.”) cuts lows for cleaner pumping.
- External sidechain input for creative routing and ducking.
- Gate module for tight control or rhythmic chopping.
- Clickable “90s” logo activates an alternate Attack characteristic.
- Main Out – clean, final level trim.
- Phase-aligned Dry/Wet control for smooth blending.
- A/B mode for quick comparison between two independent settings.
- Selectable oversampling: 0x (Off), 2x, 4x.
- Oversampling filters: MP (Minimum Phase), LP (Linear Phase).
- Latency (at 4x oversampling): 38 samples (~0.86 ms in LP mode).
- Zero latency when oversampling is switched off.
- Large meters show Gain Reduction and Output at a glance.
- Adjustable GUI zoom: 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%.
- Offline Licensing: No iLok required.
- Factory Artist Presets: Comes with exclusive presets from Redshape.
Shy 90s Dynamix for Windows and Mac (VST3, AU and AAX) is available to purchase for €29 EUR. You can try the plugin with a free demo version.
Additionally, the Shy 90s Channel “energy infuser” has been updated. Version 1.2.0 introduces A/B mode and an all-new Flux mode, which replaces the original “NZ” switch. Flux brings subtle left/right fluctuation without any audible noise — along with a range of under-the-hood improvements.
