Sheff G is in good spirits ahead of his sentencing.
The Brooklyn-born artist, 26, has a new full-length on the way (Weight on Me, out Aug. 22) and wants fans to know he’s in a grateful state of mind despite his current predicament. For those unfamiliar, Sheff pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder and conspiracy charges in March, with an expected five-year sentence set to be handed down next week.
“It’s always gonna be tough,” Sheff told FOX 5 New York’s Lisa Evers this week, as seen here and/or below. “That’s something very hard to prepare for but you build and you build and you put the right things in place and the right people in place and you just hope for the best.”
In the same interview, Sheff also broke down how he’s aiming to serve as an example for others, particularly younger fans.

“I just want the kids and the youth to see the growth and the development with me and my label and all my peers around me, just give my story out to the world,” he said.
Meanwhile, in an alleged Instagram Stories screenshot circulating on the platform formerly known as Twitter, Sheff went long when praising his romantic partner.
“I love you so much,” Sheff wrote in the alleged screenshot, seen below. “I pray we never part ways no matter what, stay strong [and] stay sturdy no matter what. Obstacles will always come our way. It’s our job to get through ‘em together.”
Sheff’s sentencing following his attempted murder and conspiracy guilty plea is set for Aug. 13. The following week, he’s set to roll out his new project Weight on Me, featuring the just-released single “Grind 4.” The Great John-produced song also got a video from director Nimi Hendrix.
