Da Vinyl Box is a 186 MB collection of 263 royalty-free samples sourced from the public domain.
If you’re into the sound of artists like DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, UNKLE, and Cut Chemist, this one should feel right at home.
The pack includes 74 percussion samples, 52 breakbeats (in both WAV and REX2 formats), 58 music loops, 35 FX samples, 33 one-shots, 8 bass loops, and 4 vocal samples. Everything is delivered as 16-bit WAV files, which keeps things simple and universally compatible.
So yeah, nothing fancy here, just WAV files. But I have a soft spot for WAV sample packs. They remind me of a simpler time, around 10–15 years ago, when I was starting BPB and sample packs were a staple of most producers’ workflows.
There’s something about working with plain WAV files that pushes me to be more creative or, at least, not overthink things.
Kontakt libraries are great, but without a built-in instrument engine, effects chain, or preset browser to lean on, you end up doing more of the work yourself. And it’s fun.
Loading files into your sampler, mangling them, layering things manually… it just feels good and reminds me of better times. It’s a more hands-on approach, and I find it satisfying in a way that complex sound libraries simply aren’t.
I also know Pierre from SampleScience personally. He actually wrote an article on BPB about selling sample packs for a living, which is worth a read if you’re curious about the business side of things.
He’s always kept his work affordable, and limited-time free releases like this one are a good example of why he has a loyal following.

VHS Waves, a virtual instrument that normally costs $30, is currently available for free using the code FREEGIFT at checkout. There’s no visible countdown timer on this one, so I don’t know how long it will stay free.
VHS Waves offers around 30 synth sounds recorded on actual VHS tapes and captures the authentic degraded tone of old magnetic tape.
It’s aimed at synthwave, vaporwave, and chillwave production, and includes a multi-LFO, lowpass, and highpass filters, multi-voice mode with glide control, amplitude range controls, and a preamp. It requires 856 MB of hard drive space.
