Rage Against the Machine has put Republicans and Democrats both on blast following recent increases in ICE raids.
Earlier this month, protests began in Los Angeles and other cities where Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents targeted immigrants. The legendary and radical rock group took to Instagram to issue a lengthy statement condemning the raids, which saw the deportations of many for alleged immigration violations.
“In the US, both major parties are responsible for the militarized border policies that target and criminalize migrants and refugees,” Rage Against the Machine wrote.
They pointed out that both the Democrats and Republicans are at fault because they “wage wars and impose destructive economic policies that directly result in the migration of people seeking safety and asylum.” The band also shared that “after 9/11, the budget for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rose by almost 300%.”

“This has intensified the racist terror for communities already suffering through family separation, detention, deportation, and the use of ‘digital prisons’ via electronic monitoring,” they wrote. “No government on stolen land should have the power to decide who is ‘legal’ and who is ‘illegal,’ or who lives and who dies.”
Amid protests in LA, Donald Trump deployed the National Guard without California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s permission.
Other artists and celebs who publicly supported protesters and immigrant communities and criticized Trump during the raids include The Game, Cardi B, Kim Kardashian, D.L. Hughley, Doechii, and Bad Bunny.
